1. Stop spending time with the wrong people.
Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you. If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you. Never fight for a spot. Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth. Remember, it’s not the people that stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst that are your true friends.
2. Stop running from your problems.
Face them head on. No, it won’t be easy. There isn't a single person in the world who is capable of handling every curve ball thrown their way. We aren’t supposed to be able to instantly solve problems. We are human, and humans feel stuff. We get upset, sad, hurt, stumble and fall. That’s the whole purpose of living – to face our problems, learn, adapt, and solve them. This is what ultimately shape us into the person we become.
3. Stop lying to yourself.
You can lie to anyone else in the world, but you can’t lie to yourself. Our lives only improve when we are honest with ourselves; it's the only way in which we can grow.
4. Stop holding onto the past.
You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last one.
5. Stop trying to be someone you’re not.
Be yourself, the world already has enough people trying to be someone else and failing miserably. Get used to the fact that there will always be someone prettier, someone, smarter; someone will always be younger, but they will never be you. Don’t change so people will like you. Be yourself, and the right people will love the real you. Trust me if they don't like the real you then they are not worth having on your team!
6. Stop putting your needs on the back burner.
One of the most painful things in life is losing you in the process of giving too much of yourself to others or people you love, and forgetting that you have needs too. Yes, help others; but help yourself too. If there was ever a moment to follow your passion and do something that matters to you, that moment is now
7. Stop being frightened to make a mistake.
Mistakes are a wonderful way of learning, and it's far better to make a thousand mistakes than to do nothing at all for fear of failure. Successful people have lives full of errors, the biggest thing you will regret is not a mistake but not doing something for fear of making a mistake. When you make a mistake, let it go and don't beat yourself up. Everyone makes mistakes; our mistakes do not define who we are. Use your mistakes as an opportunity to grow and expand who you are.
8. Stop buying happiness.
Happiness is not material things; cars, clothes, gadgets, etc. will not bring happiness in and of itself. Happiness is an inside job and the only things that truly satisfy us are free. Friendship, Kinship, hugs, love and laughter. Always remember that the things that fill us with joy have no price tag.
9. Stop believing other people will make you happy.
If you’re not happy with who you are on the inside, you won’t be happy in your relationships, intimate or otherwise. You must find your happiness before expecting to be happy with someone else.
10. Stop thinking you’re not ready.
Nobody ever feels 100% ready when an opportunity comes along; you will never be ready. Grasp the opportunities when they come, take risks and jump out of your comfort zone no matter how scary it feels.
11. Stop competing against everyone.
Don’t worry about what others are doing better than you. Concentrate on building your life. Success has nothing to do with other people, it's between YOU and YOURSELF only.
12. Stop being jealous of others.
Jealousy will only keep you stuck and cause you to fill up with negative emotions that affect you and only you. We all have things that other people would love to have, so ask yourself "what do I have that other people would love to have?" and focus on that.
13. Stop complaining and feeling sorry for yourself.
Everyone experiences setbacks in life, accept that this will happen and there are no escaping difficulties. Learn to handle them and don't be tempted to fall into a victim mindset
14. Stop holding grudges.
Don’t live your life with anger and resentment in your heart. The only person who will end up hurt is you.
Let it go, and if you can, learn how to forgive in a way that does not result in inequality and power trips. Remember by forgiving it doesn't condone the behaviour or mean that it's ok for people to behave in that way it just means you are willing to let go, accept people for who they are and move on. Learn to forgive you too. Read my book for more on forgiveness! (The Reinvention Method )
15. Stop letting others bring you down to their level.
Refuse to lower your standards to accommodate those who refuse to raise theirs.
16. Stop explaining yourself to others.
Your friends don’t need it, and your enemies won’t believe it. Just do what you know in your heart is right.
17. Stop working so hard.
Slow down and rest, by slowing down you will achieve so much more. Remember if you keep doing what you’re doing; you’ll keep getting what you’re getting. Sometimes you need to slow down and distance yourself to see things clearly.
18. Stop overlooking the small stuff.
Enjoy the little things, because one day you may look back and discover they were the big things. When you look back on your life, it will be the small, nameless moments you spend with the people you love that matter the mast.
19. Stop trying to be perfect.
The real world doesn’t reward perfectionists; it rewards real individuals who have flaws and who get things done.
20. Stop following the path of least resistance.
Life is not easy, especially when you plan on achieving something worthwhile. Don’t take the easy way out, be and do something extraordinary.
21. Stop acting like everything is ok if it isn’t.
It’s okay to fall apart for a little while. Be authentic, you don't have to pretend to be strong or constantly prove that everything is going well. Stop worrying what other people think too – cry if you need to – it’s healthy to shed your tears. The sooner you do, the sooner you will be able to smile again.
22. Stop blaming other people for your problems.
How successful your life is will be determined by the extent to which you take full responsibility for it. When you blame others for what you’re going through, you deny responsibility – you give others power over that part of your life.
23. Stop trying to be everything to everyone.
It's impossible to please everyone, and in trying to do so, you will only end up burning yourself out. Narrow your focus, and help one person at a time, in doing so, you will be dropping a pebble in a pond that has ripple effects you cannot see, which is far more beneficial for everyone in the long run.
24. Stop worrying so much.
Worry will not change anything; it will only spoil the moment you have now. One way to check if something is worth mulling over is to ask yourself this question: “Will this matter in one year’s time? Three years? Five years?” If not, then it’s not worth worrying about.
25. Stop focusing on what you don’t want to happen.
Focus on what you do want to happen. Ask yourself daily, what would I most like to experience today and focus on that and let everything else take a back seat. You will achieve so much more in your life if you change this one small thing.
