How is Your Self Esteem?

You can tell pretty quickly and after a very short dialogue whether or not someone has high self esteem,
and if you listen very carefully to how you speak to yourself and to how others speak to you, you can quickly determine whether or not your self esteem is in need of a little TLC (tender love and care).  Here are a some small things that I have found that give the game away...

People with Low Self Esteem

Often believe that everyone is better than them, and can feel powerless and dependant on others. They never feel good enough and are always looking for new ways to make themselve's feel worthy.  Often people with low self esteem will look for a lot of positive encouragement and reinforcement that they are ok., and do whatever they can to people please. 

or/and

Very often people with low self esteem will think that they are better than everyone else!  Yes you know the people I am talking about, those are the ones who are always trying to get one up on everyone else, and make out that what everyone else is doing is way more inferior than them.  They have a tendency to bring people down when talking about them by using language that is derogatory and usually do this in very subtle and manipulative ways.  Sometimes this can be confused with self confidence, there is a differnce to watch out for and if you are in the company of people with low self esteem you will notice the subtle difference.  Often you will get a feeling of being be-littled, and you may not quite be able to put your finger on it, yet, you Just have a little nagging feeling inside that something is wrong, if you know what I mean.

People with High Self Esteem

These people Feel good about who they are and what they do and see everyone in a positive frame of reference. They are more likely to have a balanced view of their sense of self and their relationship with other people therefore do not feel the need to bring others or their self down.  They are more likely to find positive ways to help build people up and encourage healthy relationshisps, finding it easy in comparison to those with low self esteem to walk away from unhealthy situations or relationships.  You know when you are in the company of someone with a healthy self esteem, as you will always leave feeling ok about them and ok about you, and generally feeling good about the interaction that has taken place.  You will get that feel good feeling and know that it has been reciprocated! 

So if you find yourself lacking in self esteem the best thing you can do is give yourself lots of TLC and make sure you are around people who build you up or be around people with high self esteem as they will natuarlly make you feel good.
